VAK — Privacy Policy

VAK (“Say it better”) helps you craft replies to messages you paste in. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It is written with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP) in mind.

1. Information we collect

2. How we use your information

Provide the core service — generating reply variants from the text you paste.
Meter free daily usage and fulfill paid credit packs / subscriptions.
Keep the service safe: content moderation, rate-limiting, and device/app integrity checks.
Diagnose crashes and understand aggregate usage to improve VAK.

3. Who we share it with (processors)

We do not sell your personal data. We share the minimum necessary with service providers who process it on our behalf:

OpenAI — processes the text you paste to generate replies and to run moderation.
Supabase — database and storage (hosted in India, ap-south-1).
Upstash — rate-limiting and cost controls.
Google — Sign-In, and Google Play (billing & app-integrity) on Android.
Dodo Payments — payment processing on the web.
Sentry and PostHog — error monitoring and product analytics.

4. Payments

On Android, purchases are handled by Google Play Billing; on the web, by Dodo Payments. These providers process your payment details under their own privacy policies — VAK receives only a confirmation and transaction record, never your full card or UPI credentials.

5. Data retention

The message text and generated replies you create are automatically deleted after 30 days. Account information is kept while your account is active and removed when you delete your account. You can clear your reply history at any time in the app.

6. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Access to production data is restricted to server-side systems using service credentials. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

7. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you can:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate data (e.g. your profile).
Delete your reply history in-app, or request deletion of your account and associated data.
Withdraw consent by discontinuing use and requesting deletion.

8. Children

VAK is intended for users aged 18 and over and is not directed at children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
